Susanna Carman is a strategic designer with a deep understanding of the mindsets, behaviours, relationships and systems required for generative leaders to think creatively amidst complexity. She specialises in the integration of Design Thinking, Leadership Development and Collaborative Social Technologies to build collaborative culture, solve complex challenges and innovate amidst disruption.
Susanna works both directly with leaders and in partnership with boutique consultancies who deliver leadership development, organisational change, workforce development and social innovation services to the education and health sectors.
She is currently a Masters in Design Futures candidate at RMIT University with a research focus that integrates Design Theory Integral Theory, Systems Theory, Complexity Theory and Adult Developmental Theory to curate a trans-disciplinary, meta-design tool kit for generative leaders driving change initiatives. She holds degrees in Environmental Science, Contemporary Music and Education, as well as an advanced diploma in Holistic Counselling. She is also certified as a MetaIntegral Embodied Practitioner with over a decade of combined experience delivering business performance, cultural alignment and leadership development outcomes to the creative industries, education, health, community building and financial services sectors.
Prior to her consulting efforts, Susanna was a musician, songwriter, recording artist and music teacher who performed at Australia’s top festivals. Her design expertise is grounded in fifteen years of artistry and creative entrepreneurship, with particular skills in music education, composition, performance, product design and brand strategy. During this time she lectured at Southern Cross University's Department of Contemporary Music, headed the Shearwater Steiner School's primary music department and worked across regional NSW public and NFP sectors partnering with festivals, arts bodies, schools and mental health providers to design cross-sector, community building music performance projects.
