Leading

in a

Time

Between

Worlds

A 9-WEEK LEARNING LAB FOR DESIGN, LEADERSHIP & CHANGE PRACTITIONERS

The convergence of economic, ecological & cultural forces is generating unprecedented disruption.

Design, leadership & change practitioners are tasked with providing organising structures & leading processes that prepare people, organisations & large-scale systems for this new reality.

As practitioners with influence & agency, we are responsible for enhancing our own transition, design & leadership capacities in order to skilfully AND mindfully lead through this time of rapid change.

Join us for a 9-week, learning-through-action lab that provides support, introduces tools & facilitates mindset transformation in order to to deepen the wisdom we bring as leaders in a Time Between Worlds.

OBJECTIVES

Transition Design Leadership Lab enhances practitioner skill sets and mindsets for leading amidst disruption. It is a container for practitioners to discover, apply knowledge, receive support & grow.

EXPAND YOUR SYSTEMS THINKING SKILL SET

Engage with emergent theories, tools & practices that help you and your stakeholders see the fuller picture. Learn how to:

  • reveal interdependencies

  • synthesise multiple perspectives

  • engage others in identifying the real problem

EVOLVE YOUR LEADERSHIP MINDSET

Cultivate your capacity to see yourself, others & systems in ways you didn’t before. Learn how to:

  • maintain equanimity amidst disruptive conditions

  • examine the hidden motives for behaviour

  • bring deeper wisdom to every action

ENHANCE THE VALUE YOU PROVIDE TO OTHERS

Increase the contribution you bring as a strategic asset for navigating rapidly changing environments. Learn how to:

  • apply emergent theory in practical ways

  • combine intellectual rigour with mindful presence

  • help others make sense of complex & uncertain times

CONTENT

Transition Design Leadership Lab introduces the Transition Design Leadership Framework, an iteration on the trans-disciplinary meta frame developed by Terry Irwin, Cameron Tonkinwise & Gideon Kossoff at Carnegie Mellon School of Design. Each week we explore curated theories & practices from disciplines that correspond with the four, interdependent areas of knowledge, action & reflection:

MODULE 1:

Theories of Change

Explore ways to apply

the change dynamics

present in natural &

social systems

to live projects.

MODULE 2:

Postures & Mindsets

Cultivate a world view

that embraces mindfulness,

self-refection & curiosity

amidst highly disruptive

conditions.

MODULE 3:

New Ways of Designing

Integrate the principle

of designing 'with' rather

than 'on', 'to', or 'for'

into a sustainable &

effective practice.

MODULE 4:

Future Visions

Design narratives about

the future in which

communities live in symbiotic relationships with natural &

 social ecosystems.

All content is delivered across a 9-week timeline, which includes orientation & assessment sessions via Zoom.

ECOSYSTEM

Transition Design Leadership Lab offers a blended learning ecosystem grounded in the principles of mutuality and learning-through-action to facilitate deep engagement for a 16 person cohort size.
